Ben Starr is set to voice Hello Kitty in what may be the most unexpected crossover since Snake in Super Smash Bros. What?
In a surprising crossover, insiders claim Ben Starr, the voice of Clive Rosfield in Final Fantasy XVI, will voice Hello Kitty in an unannounced Soulslike game.
And no, we didn’t get hacked. This is real. Maybe.
“I Am rage unbound. I Am Cute.”
Sources close to the project (read: a blurry Discord screenshot and one guy on ResetEra with a catgirl avatar) say the game will be titled Hello Kitty: Wrath of Friendship. The game’s concept is humorously described as ‘Elden Ring meets Animal Crossing’ but with significantly more blood and crying, indicating a unique blend of cuteness and dark themes. Players will take on the role of Hello Kitty, a lone emissary from the Kingdom of Sanrio, on a perilous quest to reclaim the Heart of Kindness, a powerful artifact believed to hold the true essence of joy and friendship—her world’s fate hinges on her triumph against corrupted mascots.
Starr’s performance is said to be gritty, nuanced, and shockingly British. One line from the leak: “Your sins are unforgiven, Keroppi. For the love of cinnamon rolls and friendship… I end you.” Absolute chills.
Bloodborne, but Make It Kawaii
Gameplay details are scarce, but early footage suggests dodge-rolls, parry mechanics, and customization options including gothic bows, murder mittens, and a passive-aggressive emote wheel. Hello Kitty is reportedly dual-wielding oversized scissors and a teacup that explodes on impact. Oh, and there’s a consumable item akin to the iconic Estus Flask from Dark Souls, allowing players to sip Strawberry Milk to restore health.
FromSoftware has not commented, probably because they’re not involved. Rumors point to an unknown indie team operating under the name ‘CuddleCore Games.’
Is This Real Life?
Until we hear Starr scream “FOR SANRIO!” in a gravelly roar onstage at Summer Game Fest, this stays in rumor territory. But if this is a prank, it’s a really good one.
And if it’s not a prank, Ben Starr is about to traumatize a whole new generation of gamers through a game that cleverly intertwines darkness with themes of friendship. This time, with friendship.
Stay tuned for updates on this very real story.
